Liu Bao would be proud

King Goujian's sword, bronze, about 500 BCE. It was unearthed at Wangshan in Hubei province, with an inscription stating that it was owned by Goujian, Image via Wikipedia

The Sword of Goujian is an amazing piece of work. If you’ve ever watched/read/seen Asian movies, etc, you can finally see where the ancient dramas and legends get some of their sword templates. Its like, I’ve seen this design so many times throughout Asia but I never realized it was actually tied to traditions.

It was taken from a submerged tomb in China, where it sat in the water for centuries. When they took it form its scabbard, it was in remarkable shape, practically new

It’s really beautiful, I like the pattern printed on the blade. It makes me feel reminiscent. Reminds me of Dynasty Warriors too, haha. I always played the butterfly guy…

So, some Chinese guys can make a sword that can sit at the bottom of a pond for eons but my computer’s disc burner and charger need to be replace twice within two years?

A sense of realness

I am not easily moved by anything. Not only am I normally mellow but I am also monotone (adding to my robotic nature) and react calmly to most things in most situations. Sometime I just can’t help but stare and wonder at my roommate as she weeps during Grey’s Anatomy or a National Geographic segment featuring polar bears drowning because they get stranded on icebergs that are melting because of global warming (seriously!). She cried on her birthday when we gave her birthday cards last year… Yet, very few things will make me cry. These things are: cats and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Don’t ask me why on the second one…

With that said, I happened to catch Barack Obama’s speech the other day (you know which one, and if you don’t, that’s okay too!). And I CRIED! I cried; I was pretty surprised at that. And later I find out that he wrote this speech himself. And I think that is awesome. Read more »
